Jeff Lund is a photographer based in Ojai, California. 

In Jeff's own words:

The series Incidental Moments / Momentary Incidents is the culmination of an effort that started 12 years ago. My preoccupation with pointing the camera at the television, however, must have started some 45 years ago. Use of the television evolved into filling the full frame and freezing images that I thought were graphically interesting or topical; a Presidential news conference or a variety show or an interesting moment in a drama.

Although I prefer to allow the viewer to find in the pictures something personal that may touch upon their experience, I can point to some obvious thoughts; there are repeating cultural paradigms, references, touchstones and images that may be specific to a more innocent time in our culture. I can also say that my intention is to create a dreamlike image (like when you wake up from a dream but cannot recreate specifics but just a feeling) with some reference to a form of reality that isn’t really real. As such these images confront the traditional photographic image as a representation of the real. The images in this series are flat with very little depth perception. Printed on a fine art paper they have the feel of a charcoal drawing or a 19th century photographic print.

In addition to my photographic work, I continue creating collages. I have found that the practice of combining images to make a collage has had an influence in my approach to my photographic work, taking a more studio like approach toward the final photographic image. The most recent work may be pushing the boundaries of photography as a representation of the real even further.

It is my resolve to allow the work to do most or all of the talking, to provide the viewer the opportunity of discovery.
